Grounded
“What is it like to be grounded?”
Lisa always wanted to know.
“Let me tell you,” started Sam,
“It’s no place you want to go.
You’re thrown into a chamber
And locked away for days.
You’re fed the heads of fish
(Which is a smell that never strays).
Your friends are never welcomed,
But monsters come and go.
No TVs or computers,
No toys or radios.
To entertain yourself,
You are given just a stick.
Don’t even try to leave,
‘Cause every doorway is a trick.
I barely made it out alive,
And Lisa, you should know,
Behave yourself and that’s a place
You will never have to go.”
Sam’s mom slipped her a dollar
As Lisa ran to her toys.
“Your next payment comes in a week,
When you tell her the “danger” of boys.”
