Here You Go, Sheep

Here you go, sheep.

Here is my heart.

Just please try not

To tear it apart.

I know that sheep like

To eat all they can,

From roses with thorns

To food out your hand,

To chains on a bike,

To hair off a dog,

To bark off a tree

And moss off a log,

To tires on cars

And wood off the porch,

And how’d you get into

The yard? Well, of course,

You ate your way through

The pen you were in.

If I put you back, you’d just

Eat through again.

Well, eat it all up,

Eat everything, please.

Fill yourself up on

Pet hair and leaves.

Be as full as you can

So my heart, you won’t eat.

Take care of it, please,

Now, here you go, sheep.
