As It Seems

“Not every poem

Ends with a twist,”

Said the mother alien

As she stole, from her son, a kiss.

She un-tucked his blanket,

Checked over his bed,

His monster was still there

And wide awake as she said,

“Sometimes, in life, things are

Just as they seem.”

Then she turned on his light

And wished him a bad dream.
